did ya miss me?

It's been a crazy week and a half! I'm finally back at work. Can you feel the enthusiasm? I was not thrilled to wake up this morning because my body had gotten used to getting up whenever I wanted. That was a mean and cruel joke! It has been a wonderful and busy time for me so I'm ready to get back to my routine.

The Steelers game in St. Louis was badass. I had a great time even though we were so high I thought I might get altitude sickness. Almost our entire section was Steelers fan and it was awesome except for when I smacked the kid behind me in the face with my Terrible Towel.

I did waaaaaaay too much shopping while in St. Louis. I am actually malled out for awhile. Even the other day, I had a hard time picking out a new purse. WTH is that?

Little Baby Alli surprised everyone and came a week early! She is perfect and beautiful and not at all squishy-ugly baby like most of them are.

Christmas was fun and crazy. My mom, his mom, my dad, his dad, run run run. It gets nuts but I don't think we'd know what to do otherwise. Besides being "malled out", I'm turkeyed out too. We didn't get to spend a lot of time with any of our families but they all got to see us.

My birthday was okay. Toddles and I got shitfaced on Christmas night with our good friend Dougbert and we both felt like major ca-ca when we woke up. I think we were still buzzed when I got him to the airport about 25 minutes before his flight took off. I went out with about 8 friends later that night to celebrate my day of birth and proceeded to tie another one off. Good times. I was asked three times if it was my 22nd birthday. As if.

This weekend was wonderful too. Toddles flew back in on Friday night. We went out for a little while with friends from out of town to a couple of places we hadn't been in awhile. The two of us were actually home by 1:30 both nights this weekend. Freakin amazing! It was so nice because we didn't have a thing planned to do this weekend, which was the total opposite from the past week. We ate and slept and ate and slept. Saturday night we watched the UFC fights and Sunday night we went to the Tulsa Shootout.

I cannot even explain how good it felt to do what we wanted on our own schedule all weekend. It was like it was pre-moving back home times. Totally T&T time! And you know what? My dahling is still at home, all snuggled in my bed. He'll wake soon and get ready for our big poker party tonight and be waiting for me when I get home. It's a preview of how it will be in a little over 9 months.

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S!!!

word.

I've really got to stop saying that. It comes out of my mouth a lot. But it works in so many situations. Right? Except for there...

So, my vacation begins today at 3:00. I'm not excited yet because it's going to be a crazy day at work. After lunch it'll hit me. I haven't had this much time off since... eh... August. haha Okay, so not that long but whatev. I'm headed to the Lou today and I get to see my Love for 6 whole days. Holy catballs! We're going to the Steelers/Rams game tomorrow night with the Roomies (his dad and stepmom) - I'm very excited about that! Plus I get to shop all day with no one to bug me. Very exciting as well. We'll be home Friday and then our Christmas festivities begin. Duh da da daaaa!

Saturday - Christmas with Mama and her side of the fam.
Sunday - Christmas with the Roomies and their part of the fam.
Monday - Christmas in OKC with Pops and his peeps.
Tuesday - Christmas with his Mom and her bfriend.
Wednesday (the most imporatante!) - MY BDAY! (Except it sucks ass because T is leaving me)
Thursday - Recovery day
Friday - Welcome baby Alli day (and T flies back)!!!

So, ya... I haven't done any shopping except for my boss because we had to exchange gifts today. The dude still hasn't given us our bonus so I can't even buy my fiancee a gift, but it's okay to spend $xx on the boss. Wasn't too happy about that. If we don't get it today I am going to spit nails. No Christmas for you. I'll take my damn Monty Python movie back. That's right boyyyeee.

I did make some scrumpdiddlyumptious mini quiches for food day today. Spinach, mushrooms, onions, pepper jack, and muenster.... YUM! I cannot wait to try them, they look mighty delish. I'll have to rewrite the recipe since I tweaked it and post it.

What else?

I hope that anyone reading my blog has a happy, healthy, wonderful, safe, and joyful Christmas.
Muah!

friday fun #-1

I'm not doing it this week because I can't find a fun/good/interesting meme. I went through a whole list of them and nothing struck me. So, I'm going to do my own list this week.

Good things:
  • I have power.
  • I have a roof over my head.
  • I have heat.
  • I have food in my belly.
  • Snow is coming.
  • I had yummy chicken salad and garlicky Triscuits for breakfast.
  • My bonus family rocks!
  • My fiancee is happy and healthy.
  • I have money in da bank and it's not payday.
  • Next week I'm going to my first NFL game.
  • Mexico Lindo margarita lunch Fridays.
  • Project Runway, Meerkat Manor, and No Reservations = ♥
  • Our receptionist brought her cutsie long hair chihuahua to work.
Sucky things:
  • Almost 300,000 people in the state still do not have power.
  • Snow is coming.
  • I cannot find a decent, cheap car.
  • Christmas is 11 days away and I haven't shopped. At all.
  • I can't shop until I have a car.
  • I can't get a car until I get my bonus.
  • I don't know when I'm getting my bonus.
  • People are dying from running generators or lighting fires in their homes.
  • My ride smokes in the morning on the way to work and it makes my belly turn.
  • Said receptionist is without power indefinitely and is irritable.
I'm glad the top list is longer than the bottom list. It's early in the day though.

12.12.2007

the ice is melting...

As you may have heard, Oklahoma got pelted with ice and freezing rain all weekend. It has been a wreck everywhere and the devastation is really sad. We were very fortunate to have kept power the entire time. Every person I talked to had lost theirs and several are still without power. It's just so sad and people are having to be very resourceful. The good thing is that the ice is gone, for now anyway and the rain has finally stopped. But we're supposed to get hit by a sizable snow storm Friday night. Yay. I'd much rather have snow than ice, at least it doesn't weigh down power lines and destroy homes and trees. The trees are enough to make your heart sad. They just split and splinter and fall apart under the weight of the thick ice.

Thought I'd give a quick update, not much else is going on. Oh, wouldn't you know my office was like one that actually kept power too. That's a bunch of crap. The other good thing about this storm is that my honey had to stay in town for a day and a half extra. It was really nice getting to stay in bed and snuggle that extra time.

Anyway, say lots of prayers for those who are doing without right now. Generators are scarce and it's cold.

Peace.

friday fun #17

This week it is from Friday Fiver.

1. Are you married? Not yet, 10 months, 17 days to go. (Can you believe it?)

2. When do your claws come out? When someone messes with my Love or BFF. Or when a douchebag at the bar decides he wants to play grab ass and didn't get the hint the first time I yelled at him. Watch out folks, watch out.

3. Have you ever been in a car accident? Yes, several. Nothing serious thank goodness. And it's been a long time! *knocking on wood*

4. Who is the last person you held? That would be our super cute niece when she visited last weekend. Super cute nephew does not like to be held.

5. Describe a time you've gone overboard: Hmm. Overboard? I think my email total to Toddles yesterday while car shopping would have constituted overboard. There were like 40 cars in 13 emails. I get consumed, what can I say?

12.04.2007

changes

It was a bittersweet weekend.

I turned in the keys to my "super cute little house" on Saturday. It's been a really odd experience. Three years ago I was completely heartbroken and looking for a new home. My then-boyfriend was cheating on me, after I had raised his precious children and made a home with him for two years. I was sad and sick and really pathetic. Then I found this awesome little house that was full of color and cheer and just what I needed to start a new chapter in my life. I left the asshole and started a new life for myself. I started becoming friends with my Toddles again. I did the things that I wanted to do, not what someone else expected me to do. I got healthy again. I got happy again. It was a big turning point in my life because I really thought it was over for awhile.

The past month has been another life-changing experience. I have cried and laughed and lifted more boxes than I have in forever. I moved "back home" with my future in-laws. I'm getting married in 10 months. I'm in love and really happy for the first time in a bit. I'm getting out of debt and making a good life for myself, again. It's makes the whole marriage thing seem more real now that I'm sacrificing and bettering things for someone else. I swore three years ago I would never do this again. I wasn't going to fall in love, I wasn't going to give anything up for anyone, and I certainly didn't think I'd be moving in with the 'rents and losing some of my independence. Things change though. People grow up, fall in love, and makes dreams together.
I'm going to have my very own little family of two next year and that makes me so incredibly happy. *insert super happy tears here*

I'll stop being mushy but it really has been crazy in my world lately.

Did anyone else notice that we just slipped into December and it's already the fourth day, with twenty-one days to go until Christmas? Yeah, I just did. I haven't done any shopping yet but I have made my crazy organized list and I'm ready to start. Oh, but wait - I don't have my bonus yet. Thanks Bossman, make us wait until the last minute. I actually am going to get started with what I can this week. Not paying rent has it's advantages.

Tonight I have my first appointment with one of the photographers we've chosen for the wedding. I really wish T was here to go with me but I can manage on my own. I seriously only have 8 free days to myself this month. That is nuts! I was trying to pick a day to go to OKC for some Christmas shopping and it's like, duuuuuh Tara - you really shouldn't do that. Check this out: 2 photog appointments this week, two Christmas parties this weekend, work dinner, bunco, poker, December birthday dinner, and an ornament party next week; girls' night and then a 3 day break. Then it's off to St. Louis for the Steelers/Rams game, come home 2 days later, Christmas with Mom, T's fam, my fam, and taaadaaa! It's Christmas! Then it's my birthday and I turn the awful 27 and next thing you know it's freakin 2008.

Hopefully I won't have another breakdown between now and then. Peace y'all.

friday fun #16... i'm back!

Coming from my favorite, Friday's Feast.

Appetizer
What is your favorite carnival/amusement park ride? I love roller coasters and the best one I've ridden so far has been Batman at Six Flags St. Louis.

Soup
How do you react in uncomfortable social situations? I stutter and blush, then try to exit as soon as possible.

Salad
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy discussing deep, philosophical topics? Mmm... not so much - I'd say a 4.

Main Course
Did you get a flu shot this year? If not, do you plan to? No, I never get one. They're for the elderly and children.

Dessert
Approximately how many hours per week do you spend watching television? Eh... Way too many. I'd say 15-20.

Have a great weekend!!!

11.29.2007

new restuarant... suki

I haven't had food from a decent new place in awhile, so I thought I'd let my readers know about a new joint that I've been waiting to open for 3 months now. It's called Suki, and it's at the old Tippins at 71st and Memorial.
I had no expectations about Suki because I had no idea what kind of food it would be. The sign outside only said "Unique Dining" so it left a little to the imagination. S and I went there last night around 9:30. We would've arrived sooner but we were finishing off a free pitcher of beer. There were few diners in the place but they said it was no problem we were coming in 30 minutes before close.
When we walked in, it was nice - I can't compare it to Tippins because I never ate there but it was clean and the aesthetics were good. The tables were all marble with hot pots (shobu shobu) in the middle and there were big, comfy chairs. Our waiter was a little goofy but he charmed us after his nerves wore off. We both ordered the norm - Crown & Diet (me) and Crown & Sprite (S). Got our drinks and started checking out the menu. It was a little bit confusing, things weren't really specified, like whether each meal was per person or for two people. There is a complimentary section that details what you get with each dinner. We finally decided to split a meal from the four choices: A, B, C, or D and we got an extra appetizer set up.

The complimentary section included:
  • Asian lettuce cup - a 2-bite piece of Romaine with sticky rice, enoki mushrooms, and black sesame seeds, served with shoyu and ginger.
  • Mixed green salad - fresh greens, red and yellow bell pepper, onion, and a sweet dressing.
  • Soup of the Day - we choose the Shrimp Bisque, there was also a White Miso.
  • Kimchi - homemade by the owner, fermented cabbage leaves with carrots and garlic.
  • Japanese pickles - self explanatory.
  • Country-style Jjul or handmade noodles. We choose the Jjul - a traditional Korean rice porridge.
  • Chef's selection of ice cream - our serving was coconut.
S and I chose option B ($26) for our meal, which included:
  • 4 oz. of top sirloin
  • 3 saltwater prawns
  • 2 Georgia banks scallops
  • 4 Windsor Bay mussels
  • 2 oz. big eye tuna
  • seasonal vegetables - eggplant, broccoli, 3 kinds of mushrooms, zucchini, daikon, squash, and others
You also get to choose three different kinds of dipping sauces. I chose the wasabi, chili, and sesame sauces. I loved the wasabi and chili sauces - both were super spicy but very good. I believe our served goofed up and gave us plain soy sauce instead of the sesame sauce because that's what it tasted like, but was a good mixture with the other two.

Okay, now on to what I thought of the meal. The lettuce cup was small and rather bland. The green salad was nice and crisp but needed a touch more of the dressing, which reminded me of honey mustard and not that boring ginger crap you get at other places. The shrimp bisque was good, pureed a bit too much, and kind of tasted like tortilla chips. The kimchi was awesome, being my first experience with it, I really loved it. It was spicy and tangy, two things I love. I would definitely eat it again. The Japanese pickles tasted just like the apple cider pickles I made this past summer, nice and sweet.

The server brought out vegetable broth to pre-heat while we were eating our appetizers. It quickly started to boil and smelled great. He then brought out the plate of veggies and started cooking them in front of us. He gave us both equal servings and we started chowing down. After a few minutes, the server came back with a plate of thinly sliced beef. He placed the beef in the pot and cooked it very quickly, in less than a minute. He dished it up for us and we started dipping in the yummy sauces. The beef was nice and tender, very lean and tasty. After that was finished, the server came back to clean the fat off the top of the hot pot. He ladled that off and left only to return with a large plate of seafood. When I say large, I'm talking about the seafood - not the plate. All I can say is that that was definitely my favorite part. First he dipped the beautiful, bright red tuna in the pots. He turned it for a few seconds and dropped a piece on each of our plates. It was awesome - barely cooked and so fresh. Then he put the prawns and mussels in the pots. They quickly started cooking too. After about a minute he dropped the huge scallops into the pot and let them cook for a minute. He started scoping the gigantic seafood onto our plates after the mussels popped open. I'm not even kidding - this seafood was probably the largest I've ever had on a plate. The prawns were as big as three of my thumbs and the scallops were the size of golf balls. The mussels were okay, I'm not the biggest fan, but they were okay. The last part of the broth left in the hot pot was used to make the Jjul, the Korean porridge. It was very flavorful from all of the food being cooked in it. I was so full by this point, I only had room to take a couple of bites because I had to save a teeny bit of room for the coconut ice cream, which was also fantastic.

I do not see how one person could have eaten that whole meal. It was a ton of food! My Toddles wouldn't have let me down, he would have been in heaven. S and I shared the meal for one and it was way more than enough. I really enjoyed the entire meal, I felt bad that were were there 1 1/2 hours past closing time but I think they'd expect that since it is always going to take that long to cook a meal at the table. The entire staff was friendly and attentive. All in all, we spent $50 for a meal that left us both very happy and full, and we got a new dining experience! I'll go back...

11.26.2007

accomplishment.

Woohoo! The big weekend is over and we got so much finished. Here's the play by play:

Wednesday - I finished packing. I got this OCD thing going for this move and was super organized throughout the entire move. Everything was boxed, labeled, and ready to go when T arrived that night.
Thursday - Thanksgiving. We spent the day in OKC with my fam, had dinner, and were home by 8:00. It was our only scheduled day off for the whole weekend. Dinner was nice, my family was being a little odd but it was still a nice holiday.
Friday - Move my room. Toddles and I got up at a decent time and prepared for the day. I was hyper, crazy lady when I woke up from all of the excitement. T wasn't really ready for all that until I got him his fav McD's breakfast. We moved all of my room into his Dad's house in two trips. His stepmom's family was there so they helped us unload some of the stuff. We got everything put together and sleepable by the time dinner was ready at 4:00. We stuffed our faces and played poker that night. We also made it to Target to get some more things for my room.
Saturday - Ugh... We're tired by this day. We got around and made it to the old house to move all of my boxes. It was cold and we both wanted to be cozied up in bed. We got everything loaded into two cars and made it to the storage unit in no time. Unloaded and it was time to go to his brother's for another family meal. We grabbed some pizza and watched the OU/OSU game. After that it was time to hang with all of our friends. We drank our aches and pains away and called it a night after a few too many drinks.
Sunday - Oops. T has a nasty hangover. I feel fine but I do NOT want to get out of bed. We wake up late and our helper is already calling. I tell him we need another hour. Thank God he's such a nice guy. We meet up at the house, move the big stuff - W/D, fridge, couch, etc to storage. Get done. Go eat. Go sleep. We were so tired that we slept for 3 hours yesterday. I think it all caught up with us.
Now all I have to do is clean out the house and I'm finished. It feels so good to have had such a stress-free move. T said it's because I rock and had everything ready to go. I couldn't agree more.
I've been happier this past week than I have in a long time. I truly believe it's because I got rid of all the bad shit in my life and I am preparing for a fresh start with my Beloved. I feel clean, refreshed, and organized for once. It is amazing!

Oh, the wedding countdown is 10 months, 29 days. Yikes!

Hope everyone had a really nice Thanksgiving. Get any shopping done?

11.21.2007

turkey day...

I want to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

11.16.2007

for real time... i'm on break

I'm feeling better, finally - except I think my body hates me because I've been working it to death getting ready for this silly garage sale. Every one of my muscles are screaming "we need a massage!" and they might get one if we make enough money tomorrow.

So yes, I'll be on break for the next week. It's just too much for me right now. Garage sale tomorrow, unloading the rest of the junk on Sunday, packing Monday - Wednesday, Thanksgiving on Thursday and Friday, moving the rest of the weekend. Yikes, huh?!?!? I must remember - it's all for a great reason.

So, I hope everyone has a super duper happy Thanksgiving next week, enjoy the time off!

11.12.2007

no wonder i'm grumpy...

(explanation at the end...)
I continued my madness through the weekend. Poor, poor Toddles dealt with me so nicely.

Friday was my friend S's birthday. He was being a total prick the whole night because he thinks he can sometimes and it being his bday made it even worse. T and I went home early because we had a busy day planned for Saturday and we were not in the mood for S's crap.

I had to get up earlyish the next day for a baby shower for my friend Court. It was nice, not short enough, but nice for one of those shower things. Her MIL hooked her up! I've never seen so much pink in all my life! I looked super cute for the shower because this girl T used to date was there. Hot red dress and fun shoes and hair, plus the sizable engagement ring = delish! I told my future MIL that I would give up my future baby shower if I never have to go to another again. She didn't go for that too well. Baby showers suck sooooo bad.

T and I had a dinner date later that night. It was wonderful and romantic. We had some great Italian food and wine, and it was super cozy. After that we went to check on BFF and her pneumonia, stole her hubby for a bit for beer and football, and went out. I started feeling bad at some point in the night. Ciggies were killing me and I begged T to take me home. He really didn't want to but I finally managed to get him home.

I woke up Sunday and felt like someone had socked me in the chest. I couldn't breath and the first thought in my head is pneumonia since BFF has had it so bad. I toughed it out for awhile until the coughing became unbearable. I took a shower and the steam helped but I still ended up going to the doctor. $68 later I'm on an inhaler, crazy antibiotics, and I've got bronchitis and some pneumonia. Yay me. No wonder I've been totally weak and tired and bitchy. My wonderful fiance took care of me and got a ton of stuff done since I'm having a garage sale this weekend. I'm so lucky.

So, I'm actually working today. I would rather be in bed but there's really no point since I'd end up getting bored and would work on the crap for the garage sale. Thank goodness for cough drops, hot tea, and the inhaler. Bosslady doesn't even know I'm sick yet.

Anyway, that's my weekend. Stay tuned for more madness because the next two weeks are c-razy. I might've found a home for Pedro but more on that later. I'm ready for lunch.

friday fun #15

I know, language. Whatever. It's been a heck of a week. I've been battling snot and sinuses for two weeks. I just found out my BFF has severe pneumonia. I've got a week to go through my entire house for my gigantic garage sale. I'm moving in 16 days. Plus I have to find a storage, go to two photographer appointments, do Thanksgiving, pack, and try to stay sane. Yes, I know, I'm grumpy today - sorry. Good thing is my better half is coming home and that makes me happy.

ETA: I forgot about my LEAST favorite part of this week. I have to find Pedro a home. Big time freakin bummer dude. I just listed him on Craigslist - I'm not sure how this is going to work out. If I cannot find a suitable home for him, he's going to one of my brothers - they can't tell me no.

Okay, on to the fun part of this post.

What do we want to do today? Probably some Friday's Feast because they're my favorite.

Appetizer
Which snack do you like to get when you go to the movies? Good ole buttery popcorn and a giant pop. And lots of napkins.

Soup
What year did you start using the internet? Hmm... It wasn't called the internet, it was CompuServe and it was 1992 I believe. I ran up a $70 bill in a few weeks talking to some dude in Australia on a lovely blue DOS-ish screen.

Salad
What is your first name in Pig Latin? Aratay - not bad for a Caucasian girl. (Here’s how to speak it if you don’t already know!)

Main Course
Name something you are picky about. Ohhh, lots of things. My most particular thing is the way things lie on the coffee table. They have to be straight and I mean really straight. And stuff doesn't go on the coffee table. No keys, hats, socks, NOTHING but what I've placed there.

Dessert
Fill in the blanks: I had to go to Babies R Hell yesterday and I am going to a new bar for lunch today.

11.02.2007

i lied, i'm back. friday fun #14...

I couldn't stay away that long, things got a little better for now so I think it's safe to be on the computer at work without BB firing me. This week's fun from Friday's Feast.

Appetizer
How much money do you plan to spend this upcoming holiday season? Not as much as I have in the past, which has been most of my Christmas bonus and that's an easy grand. Everyone is getting hand painted coffee mugs this year, LOL.

Soup
What was the last television show you watched, and was it good? I watched Grey's Anatomy last night, it was a decent epi. This season isn't nearly as good as the last two.

Salad
If you had to paint the walls of your living room tomorrow, what color would you choose? Bright green. Green makes me happy, hence the new color of my blog.

Main Course
Name something clever or practical you have thought of that should be invented, but hasn’t yet. I can't tell - then my readers will steal it and make millions and I'll be screwed.

Dessert
List 3 things you would like to receive as gifts this upcoming holiday season. Cookbooks, an 8 mm camera, and cotton henleys. I know, a little random.

Have a great weekend!

11.01.2007

hey...

I just wanted to pop in and say hello. I'm taking a mini-break from blogging because work and home are both absofuckinglutely chaotic right now and I'm trying to get some stuff figured out.

Hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween! Visit my links or something until I get back!

friday not so fun #13

First off, I am dedicating everything I do today to my dear Stephie, who passed away unexpectedly 4 years ago today. Just in case she can hear me...

Hey munchkin, I can't believe you've been gone for four years, I was just thinking of you the other day. I swear, sometimes I can see you smile in other people - it kind of freaks me out but it's cool too. Your little guy isn't so little anymore. I bet that he would be almost as tall as you already! Your mom is holding up pretty good these days, she's slowly getting happy again. Lil man keeps her going and your uncle is taking her out today. We email back and forth a lot, she still sends those chain letters and I delete most of them, unless it's an angel, which reminds us all of you. Things are different without you but I know you're enjoying the show. We all miss you girl...

Okay folks, now on to the happy stuff. She wouldn't want me to be mopey today.

I'm getting married in 364 days. Whoa. Now I can really time to start planning the big day, not just pretend plan.

I've had a pretty lame week. It's been all cold so I've stayed home just about every night and gotten in my pj's early and eaten yummy soups that make my heart happy and snuggled with Pedroski. I had to turn on the heater last night. I swear, if I didn't know better - I would have thought it was going to snow. You know that eerie stillness that happens when it's going to snow? That's what it was like outside last night.

It's going to be a fun weekend. T and I are dressing up as Mario and Luigi for a Halloween party and then we'll probably go out afterwards. It's definitely going to be a cozy, snuggle on the couch type of weekend.

Here's our Friday Fun, from Friday Fill-in.

1. The last good thing that came in the mail was a sample of crème brulée coffee from Walmart.

2. This week I'm grateful for Fall weather, football, and sweatshirts.

3. Fried macaroni and cheese is the most delicious thing ever.

4. My beloved fiancée inspires me.

5. I'm most happy when I am eating or sleeping.

6. And all the roads we have to walk along are never lined with money.

7. As for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going downtown, tomorrow my plans include baking a skullie cake and go to a Halloween party. Sunday, I want to watch football, eat meatloaf, and snuggle with my baby.

10.19.2007

oktoberfest

Beer. Sausages. Chicken dancing.

Totally cannot wait!!!

ETA: I'm a loser. I did not go to the best Tulsa festival of the year. Boo.

friday fun #12

Today's fun is from Friday Fiver... It was an old one, was having a hard time finding something today that I liked.

1. What's your favorite cereal? Strawberry Fields by Kashi... Totally delish with real strawberries and raspberries.

2. What is too gross to eat in the morning? Not much really, I love to eat regular food for breakfast. I eat sandwiches, sushi, leftovers, and anything in the morning.

3. What time do you go to bed? Anywhere from 10 - 12:30 on a work night. 3+ on the weekends.

4. Where do you put your keys? In the dish, where they belong. Duh.

5. What vegetables do you love? All of them except celery, it's the devil.

10.17.2007

recipes

I've been on a roll this week, just making stuff up as I go along.

For Monday night, I had this lovely Pasta Primavera.

Boil some linguine noodles. In a separate pan, heat a little bit of olive oil. To that add sliced mushrooms, diced onion, and garlic. Let that saute for a little bit and then add some white wine and let it reduce. Then add some red pepper flakes to suit your taste. Let that cook for a few minutes. Then add some sugar snap peas that have been cut into 1" pieces and let them warm through. Set that aside until the noodles are finished. Drain the noddles and add them to the pan with the veggies, toss with some more olive oil and top with parmesan cheese. Delicious! I think fresh regular peas would have been better but I'm a fan of the sugar snaps so it was tasty enough for me.

Tuesday night, I made some Papas y Enchilada con Heuvos.

Take a medium sized potato and cut it into 1" pieces. I leave the skin on a) because I'm lazy and b) because it's good for you. Put them in a dish with a touch of olive oil and salt. Pop them in the microwave for 3 minutes or until they soften a bit. While they're pre-cooking start on your enchilada. I just made a cheese enchilada with a little bit of onion. Roll it up and put in a pan (for baby and me) and set aside. When your potatoes are finished throw a teaspoon or so of ground cumin in and toss to coat. Add them to the enchilada pan. Cover the potatoes and enchilada with taco or enchilada sauce and shredded cheese. Bake in the oven at 350* until everything gets melted and the sauce bubbles. I like to put this under the broiler while I'm cooking my fried egg to get the edges all crispy. Fry an egg, over easy to medium is best for this because you want a runny yolk. Serve the egg over the enchilada and potatoes and enjoy!

(This egg was overcooked so my doggie Pedro got to enjoy it and I made another!)

today is...

World Food Day

Read about it here.

And I'm bored so I'm going to tell you alllll about my weekend.

Friday night my honey bunny surprised me and showed up in town. We went out and got a little shitty and stayed up too late doing silly things that are our little secret. No really, I'm not telling you.

Saturday T and I went ottoman shopping at 5 different stores and didn't find crap. We found one online that we're going to order that was pretty much what we wanted. It's so cool that we have the same taste and style - it makes life a lot easier - we both like simple and contemporary so there aren't any arguments over floral pillows and Oriental rugs. My bro and his gfriend showed up Saturday night in time for our friendly poker game with The Gang. I thought T was going to do well but he ended up going out at 4th place. The four of us went out after that and got hooked up at The Bar (clever name, huh). We went to an after party and stayed out way too late again. I felt like a high-schooler crashing someone's house. Fun stuff.

Sunday was fun day. Me, Ty, and Mags went to the grocery store to get stuff for a big lunch. Ty talked me out of making meatloaf, which I had been craving for two weeks, and into grilling steaks. They turned out great, had some mac & cheese, grilled squash & potatoes, and green beans. It was a ton of food!!! My little bro has turned into quite the grillmeister. I guess that's what happens when you're unemployed for 2 years and watch Food Network everyday. We watched football all day and hung out. Ty and Mags went to the Down concert, I declined, not my type of musica. Toddles had to go back home and I cried about it. He's been staying an extra day so I felt cheated this weekend. I sat down with a book and enjoyed my evening and made eggs for dinner. Comfort.

I went to watch football last night since I'm a lame-o and don't have cable. Have I mentioned that it pisses me off that Monday Night Football is only on ESPN? Well it does. It was the first time I've been out during the week in awhile. Okay, like two weeks but whatever. Went to Maloney's and it was actually nice. They remodeled and it was a lot better. I was nervous about running into Dickhead, the loser ex bf, but I was spared the drama. I drank beer all night and actually woke up feeling great today. That's because I didn't touch the Jaeger. See... I'm getting smarter with age. Jaeger makes the head pound and the tummy purge. Good to know since I'm being taken out again tonight.

Oh, I made an awesome dinner last night but that will be another post because I haven't downloaded my pics yet. It was a beautiful creation!

Yeah! Tuesday is 30 minutes from being over. Well, work over. But yeah!

friday fun #11

From my favorite, Friday's Feast!

Appetizer
When was the last time you were surprised? When Mr. T proposed to me. Everyone say it together - awwww...

Soup
Fill in the blanks: My eyes are blueish , but I wish they were more greenish.

Salad
If you were a Beanie Baby, what would you look like and what would your name be? I would be like one of those Chips Ahoy cookies on the commercial and my name would be Cookie (duh) since it's my nickname.

Main Course
Name two things you consistently do that you consider to be healthy habits. I drink water, all day, every day and I try really hard to practice portion control.

Dessert
What brand of toothpaste are you using these days? Do you like it? Why or why not? I use Colgate Total because my dental hygienist told me to. I don't care for and would prefer to use that Extreme Aquafresh because I like the bubbles it makes.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!

10.08.2007

yawn

It's dreary outside and I'm ready for my afternoon nap. Except it's not the weekend and nap time is over. I didn't do much this weekend besides get sick in two different ways. Major sucky way to spend a weekend. My honey didn't visit this weekend so that sucked too.

I spent Friday evening with my sis and beautiful nephew, who thinks I am sooo funny, but what does a 7 month-old know? After they left I met up with S&S, Ms. Ass, and some other peeps. I had four lime Cape Cods and a couple of shots. Not that much for me, right? Wrong. I went home after sitting there for a few hours and crashed out. I awoke at 8:30 the next morning with a pounding headache and a tummy ache that was awful. I get up and poop. Then I drink water and puke it up. Then I pooped again. Then I try to take some tylenol. And I puke. I repeated this process until I was completely empty and 4 lbs lighter. I finally got some toast down. I'm thinking at this point that the sister and child gave me a stomach bug, the one she was complaining about last week but I didn't have a fever.
By this time I was already late for the OU/TX watch party and cheeseburgers were the last thing on my mind. But I showered and gathered my composure and went to the party to hang out with my wonderful friends. We watched the game and ate and talked, it was great. But they wanted to go out. And they weren't taking "no" for an answer. Didn't they know I had a date with my couch to get caught up on movies? Didn't they know that the mere mention of any alcoholic substances would trigger vomiting? Silly friends... Not nice.

We went to a (gasp!) country bar and I didn't complain, much to Toddles' chagrin. Normally I protest with much gusto, but Saturday night, I was actually looking forward to a new crowd. I didn't have my darling dance partner so that meant a night on a hard barstool and flirty cowboys but I could manage. I cracked my first beer and it went down just fine. Got a second one. Almost ready to dance.
Holy frickin donkey balls! My kidneys started hurting and they started hurting bad. I acted cool, moved off the barstool and onto a seat with a back, in case it wasn't the kids. Nope. I tried to drink my $2.75 + tip domestic beer but I had to trash it and leave. Bummer dude, I wanted to learn the boot scootin' boogie. Headed straight to Walgreens for some Azo Standard and light cranberry juice. Put my jammies on and crashed out.

I woke up Sunday for football and they were still hurting. Today, I probably should have gone to the doctor but I just had some antibiotics called in by our office nurse.

I have to go home and get the casa ready for 12 women, I'm hosting bunco tomorrow night and haven't even gotten the gifts or eating utensils. I'd much rather wash a pain pill down with more cranberry juice and go to sleep. Not happenin' toots.

Oh, and screw Indy, I'm still mad at Peyton for beating us yesterday. The Colts and Pats need to go down.

10.01.2007

wonderful

You know it's not a good start to the day when you can't sleep until the alarm goes off and you get to work and there's no coffee... It's gotten better already thanks to the receptionist's hubby. He loves us so much that he brought the two of us coffee. Yeah Gumdrops!

I had the greatest weekend!!! And I'm so excited to share it.

Friday afternoon was more wedding dress shopping. I think I found IT but I have to go back with my MOH and see if she feels it as much as I do. IT was fabuloso. IT was made for Tara. Love IT.

My dad, his g-friend, and Toddles showed up later that evening. I had plans to make this pasta from the Pioneer Woman. Would you believe that I went to three grocery stores trying to find f&^king basil and still didn't get some! I know I should have my own growing but sheesh, you would think that you could find freakin basil. So anyhow, I made the pasta, minus the basil and my dad brought a bottle of wine. We ate and drank and drank and played video poker. It was a wonderful night! Oh, I made an apple crisp with ice cream too. I'm goooood.

We got up Saturday morning and went to show dad and Y the lodge for the wedding. They both loved it! We went to the casino after that. My lucky ass father won $250 in 30 minutes. Turd. It was time for the fair shortly after that. You would think that since they tore down Bell's that there would be more parking but there wasn't. I finally found a spot to make my own row and we set off to find some yummy lunch. I knew I was having a corndog first and it was just what I was craving, Dad and Y got one too. We walked around and ate some more junk, I had fried pickles, T had a steak sammich and some roasted corn, and Dad had a gyro. After we were stuffed Dad wanted to walk by the newest extreme ride, the SkyScraper. Boy oh boy. Bad idea after fried anything. He talked me into riding it with him. It is 165 feet tall, has two sets of seats on the end of this giant pendulum looking thing and it spins you around in gigantic circles and pulls 4 g's. It was freakin awesome until we stopped at the top and it was swaying. You could feel the dirty carnies pulling on the harnesses of the next riders below us. It was a rush and I'm glad I did it. Totally effing rad. I'm sure it beats that stupid slingshot thingy too. After that we were all tuckered out so we headed home. We grilled some brats and potatoes for dinner, played poker with our friends, and hung out. It was a perfect day!

Sunday, Dad and Y headed out. He is heading back to Cali today. Sigh. But he'll be back for Turkey Day in what, 9 weeks or something. Shit. No even going there.

We had plans to go see T's mom and that side of the family. I protested but he made me go. I wanted to lie on the couch all day and watch football and eat queso. She made his favorite dinner and we all sat around and played with the niece and nephew and the guys played horseshoes. The kiddos are so dang cute! We hung out there all day and a storm rolled in, which we could see great because she lives about 20 minutes outside of town. Me, T, his mom, and her b-friend all went to Chili's for dinner. I love their silly chicken crisper things. I hate to admit it but I ate all of them last night and didn't touch my broccoli and had just a few of my fries. Mmmmm... fatso.

T stayed in town because I was being whiney. We went home and rubbed each other's feet and watched the end of football and talked. It was the second perfect day in a row! I'm so lucky! Now if I can get him to wake up and take me to lunch before he heads back to the Lou I think I could die. Not really but I'd be super happy.

Happy Monday. :)

i'm a bad quitter

So I didn't make it very long after my last post without a smoke. I think I went 4 days but as soon as I cracked my first beer on Friday night, it was all downhill from there. They tasted like poo but I had a few more anyway. I think we're both doing pretty well by cutting back, I'm down to about 3 a day. Toddles s-mom is on Chantix, she's smoked for 32 years and is doing great. Helps that she's in Hawaii on vaca...

It's Thursday already! Today I am going dress shopping for the first time!!! My mom, sis, and I are going after work to a boutique that's having a huge sale. Then it's sushi time baby! We're going to try Sushi Train, haven't had it yet. The menu looks great!

I chopped my hair again yesterday. It's this cute little pixie bob thingy and I'm so happy that I got the cajones to do it. New hair. New dress. New sushi. It's going to be a good day!

Plus! Oh yeah, there's a plus... My dad is home from Cali for a visit and he's coming up to see us tomorrow night. Super exciting since we haven't seen him since June and that was totally pre-engagement. Also the reason I'm going dress shopping tonight and tomorrow because if I find something he can get it for me. I'm such a daddy's girl! Anyway, we're hanging out tomorrow night, I'm thinking of making meatloaf and taters and homemade bread. Yummy! He's bringing wine since he lives in Wine Country for us to try for the wedding. (394 days by the way!)

The fair is in town starting today. We'll all go on Saturday and chow down on some kind of deep fried goodness and ride risky dirty carnie rides. I'll probably do the olives and pickles, and maybe a spiral spud. I love this time of year!!! And I'm glad Dad will be here since Toddles doesn't like the rides, he and dad's gfriend can chill while we have fun. Yeehaw!

That's what the hap is with me.

9.19.2007

Holy smokes batman!

I'm trying to keep myself really busy right now because I am trying to quit smoking (sshh! no one knows) and I'm having a bad craving right now.

I was just peeking at the calendar and realized that September has already flown by.

402 days until our wedding. Holy shit. Two months have already gone by. That means I've got roughly 13 months to get this all figured out. Any good advice out there? I know I've got some readers that have done this before... In all reality, I think it's going to go a lot more smoothly than I expected. I have a dress appointment tomorrow. Tomorrow night I'm meeting with his 'rents to talk about getting the deposit made on the venue. My dad will be here next weekend and I'd like to take him with me to see the place and to meet with the photographer so we can get that deposit made. Big stuff first.
I ordered my first sample invitation and I've already decided that I will make my own. I cannot believe the prices of some of them! No wonder weddings cost $28K - if I spent $4 on each invite that's almost a grand alone. My notebook is filling up with centerpieces and bridesmaid gowns and cakes. It's all very exciting! I cannot believe I get to try on wedding dresses - FINALLY!

Okay, so - got that out of my system.

Did you know that Autumn is almost here? It's a wonderful 77* here today and I am lovin every second of it. I'm making cranberry pumpkin bread tonight just to make my house smell good. I'm cheating and using a boxed mix but it looks wonderful, as long as I don't screw it up too badly!

Wish me luck on the non-smoking thing! It's been 36 hours. Go me!

9.13.2007

chili cheese dip

Forgot to post that dip recipe - here it is! It's great for football season!

Chili Cheese Dip
4 oz. plain cream cheese
8 oz. chive & onion cream cheese
15 oz. can of chili w/ beans
1/2 C shredded cheddar
chili powder or cayenne to taste

Mix it all together in a saucepan and heat until melted. I served mine with Scoops and it was wonderful! It was like a cheesy coney without the weiner. And bread.

busy girl

What is it about the end of summer that keeps me so busy? It's been hectic and I'm ready for a break!
Tuesday was Bunco night, we had a ton of fun. I finally got to show all the ladies my ring. I had to skip last month because of our vacations. I made a really yummy dip (recipe to follow) and had a good time.
Wednesday my grandparents were in town and staying the night with me. We had dinner with my aunt at Red Robin, where I accidentally tossed my whole basket of fries on me and the floor. Yay Tara! We went out for drinks afterwards (I have such a cool family!) and hung out, not too late though. It was fab because I never get to spend that kind of time with that set of g'rents. We went home and my phone rang all night because two of my (stupidish) friends got pulled over and one went to jail. Everyone expected me to bail him out but I stayed in bed, I had company after all. I think that's why I'm so tired today, between Pedroski and the phoneski I didn't sleep much at all.
Today, I should have napped at lunch but I didn't. I ventured out to a new place by work that I keep hearing about on the radio. It was Helen of Troy - this little Mediterranean dojo where the old Weber's was on Lewis. It was good. The peeps were nice. I had my first falafel and some yum-o fries. I can't wait to go back and try the hummus and tabbouleh, I can totally make a meal out of that. It was good though. I know I'm going to get 80% more tired because I had fried goodness for lunch.
I am going home and vegging out tonight, my guests are gone and I have a clean house. I don't have any plans except a date with me and Big Brother 8.

This weekend I'm doing the Race for the Cure... I am really excited about it!!! My first marathon of any kind and I have met my goal of raising $200. I'll let you know how that goes.

I'm going to pretend like I'm working now, too bad I don't have long hair anymore. I would so make a hair curtain and doze at my desk...

Happy Turday...

case of the... wednesdays?

It's been raining for a couple of days again. It's a nice break from the intense heat we've had lately. We had a decent weekend. The fiance and I were kind of "off", everyone goes through that stuff. I talked to my dad and he and his ladyfriend were "off" too. Maybe the moon was in a bad lunar phase or something. I've realized how quickly wedding planning can take over a girl's head. It's all I think about and the event is 14 months away. I've got to stop and enjoy being engaged for a few more months before I really have to jump in the planning. So this is the last I'm going to talk about "the wedding" this week. For Toddles' sake and my own...

Peace out, I'm off to take a nap. The bossman is letting us go early and it's poker night so I've got to squeeze some good rain sleeps in real quick.

lazybones

I haven't been very creative lately, so I've been neglecting my poor blog.

I have been reading a lot, I mean - when I start, I cannot stop. It's nice to go home, crack open some wine, settle on the couch with Mr. Pedro and read the night away. I've been using big words lately because my mind is expanding from all the literature I've processed. hehe

In the past six weeks I've read these books (and went on two trips!):
Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides - very good book, kind of a hard read because it skips around but I really enjoyed it.
The Bitch in The House by Cathi Hanauer - It's a collaboration of stories by 26 different women about dating, sex, motherhood, and marriage. I'm totally buying it for my girlfriends for Christmas, it was great.
Flush, Sick Puppy, and Striptease by Carl Hiassen - he's a great writer, lots of humor.
I'm Not Julia Roberts by Laura Ruby - didn't know it was about stepmoms, didn't really care for it because I couldn't relate.
The Little House by Philippa Gregory - cute, surprising story which I really enjoyed.
Summer Sisters by Judy Blume - always a great author!

I'm also currently reading Sweet Ruin by Cathi Hanauer and Rant by Chuck Palahniuk and listening to the Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella podcast. Go me!!! Who needs TV and cable and movies when you can read a book!?!?!?!!?!

Anyone got more suggestions for me?

Montana dreams...

Hey all! We got back from Montana on Saturday. It was the most amazing trip I think either of us have ever been on. We did so many different things that were extraordinary - I'll never forget this experience! Who would have ever thought that I'd love fly fishing and that both of us would get to drive a H1 Hummer? We were so fortunate to have won this trip. I know I shouldn't, but I love Phillip Morris. They got me. : )

Here's a rundown of each day...
Day 1 - Arrival; Todd almost missed his connection to Bozeman from St. Louis, NWA at Minneapolis really sucks. We made it to our gate on time and hoped on the plane. When we got to the airport in Bozeman, there were all kinds of people from the ranch, greeting us, getting forms, etc. They fed us and put us on a bus about an hour out of Bozeman. We got to the ranch found our room quickly. Our bed was covered with presents and we had a really great room with a sitting area, claw foot tub, thunder jug toilet, and a comfy king sized bed. We had a beautiful front porch with two huge rocking chairs that overlooked the town.

We roamed around the town reminiscent of the Old West for awhile. They had happy hour and then were fed. We had BBQ ribs, chicken, mac & cheese, two different kinds of salad, and plenty of cocktails. My dear T was kind enough to de-bone the BBQ for me, what a guy! After dinner, we went to our room to freshen up and headed back tot the Saloon for drinks. We met fun people, I got a chair massage, and we kept drinking - of course we closed the Saloon down and headed to bed....

Day 2 - Got up super early! We had fly fishing scheduled early that morning so we grabbed a quick breakfast in the Saloon. The morning was so beautiful! We slapped our waders on and learned how to cast. I caught on immediately while Toddles was having some trouble. He ended up catching a cut-throat trout, while I only got a nibble. I'm in love with fly fishing...

We had some extra time between activities so Todd signed up for mountain biking and I went off for a scenic horse ride. It was beautiful but the nearby fires made everything a little smoky. We got back and had time for a quick nap and then I was scheduled for a massage. That was wonderful... I found the only room in town with an AC! After my massage it was time for off-roading in the hummers. They split us up so that there was no backseat driving! It was sooo much fun! We went down hills that you couldn't see the bottom of, had 3 wheels on the ground, and took it to a 30* angle. It was a blast! We got back to town that evening for more happy hour and entertainment from Cowboy Cal. We got a group picture with our cowboys hats on, looking pretty cool!

That night was more great food and drinks and meeting lots of fun people. This time we ate in the Livery and had prime rib with roasted red pepper sauce, grilled shrimp, pheasant with grain mustard, rice, veggies, and more great salad. The prime rib was awesome and I had been craving it since I heard it was for dinner. We got to play poker, have lots more drinks, and really enjoy the cool mountain evening. I had to coax Todd to bed early, we had another big day scheduled!
Day 3 - We were scheduled to do the Yellowstone day trip. We loaded up early, grabbed another great breakfast and boarded the bus for the trip 80 miles to Wyoming. The weather wasn't really on our side this day, it was a little chilly - but like they say about Oklahoma, just wait, it'll change. We explored Yellowstone Park, we saw travertine terraces made from hot springs, sinkholes, and some really beautiful mountains. It sprinkled on us all day and really started raining when we went to go rafting on the Yellowstone River. There was one good section that was rapids, the rest was pretty much like the Illinois River here in Oklahoma. It was freezing! Todd was a great captain for our raft and I think only one person fell out of the 5 different boats. The moment we got off the river the rain let up and the sun poured down. (Go figure) Todd saw 2 moose on the way home, I was snoozing...

We headed back to the ranch for more entertainment and food, this time at the pavillion on the lake. We tried rattlesnake and bison sausage, it was really tasty! For dinner we had NY strip and horseradish crusted salmon, more salad, and a squash medley. The desserts each night were tasty too! They led us all into the livery and had a little show for us, the staff did some line dances and other stuff. We signed up for a poker tournament that night, we didn't do so hot. Cowboy Cal tried to teach us how to rope, it was a little difficult for me... Big surprise! The drinks kept coming and everyone was having a blast, after being together for a few days we had made some really fun friends.

Day 4 - Time to go home. Everyone was really sad to get on the buses to head out. We boarded up at 10 a.m. Todd was supposed to be home by 9:00 that evening but had a rough flight and didn't make it til much later. I too had a horrible day of travel, I didn't arrive home until after 1 a.m. because of the rain in Minneapolis.

The pictures don't do it justice! I cannot wait to go back to MT, it was absolutely amazing!!!

hello hello

On my lunch break and wanted to jot a little note. Had a blast in Iowa at the races, got the shirt to prove it! I've never been so sweaty and dirty, it was fun and nasty all in one.

I think we set a wedding date - October 25, 2008!!!

This time tomorrow I will be en route to beautiful Montana...

I'll update with pics when I get back.

crazy week

After last week being a total blah, it ended more spectacular than I could have ever imagined. Toddles proposed on Friday. It was perfect, just us at home with music and candles and flowers, the whole works! So dreamy and unexpected!!! My baby wanted to catch me off guard and he did, I had no idea this was coming.

I haven't blogged all week because I cannot stop looking at wedding stuff. It is so overwhelming and we haven't even set a date yet! We will figure that out on our road trip next week since we'll have 4+ hours in the car. Hopefully we'll be able to agree on things, the first being who is moving. That has been the first question on everyone's minds. We'll figure it out, after 10 years - there's no rush.

I am skipping my Friday Fun this week. Let's look at my bling instead!

Mmmmhmmm... Isn't it wonderful? You can't even see half of the diamonds! There are diamonds on the band, diamonds on the side, freakin diamonds EVERYWHERE! My baby did so well!!!

I had no idea there was another level of happiness but I've certainly found it. I'm incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful man that wants to spend the rest of his life with me.

Have a great weekend!!!

sammiches

I love sandwiches and could eat them (almost) everyday.

Today's lunch:

That is 1/2 an avocado mixed with a touch of ranch, smeared on a toasted parmesan-oregano baguette, topped with pepper-jack cheese and smoked turkey. Yum! Oh, and carrots on the side even though I prefer chippies to put on my sammich.

I've been eating sammiches all my life and they continue to make my belly happy.

girl power?

Okay, I'm all about being single and independent, blah blah blah... I realized last night that it can be completely frustrating to have to depend on a man to do certain things.

My fridge has been on the fritz for a couple of months now. It has been very temperamental and only works when it wants to but I haven't been able to afford a new one. (Have you looked at fridge prices?!?!?!?!) So, when we moved into our new office at work last year we left the old kitchen fridge in the empty space. Bossman said I could have the fridge and the white leather chair that was left behind so I finally got help to get the stuff.

F and S meet me at the old office to load it in his truck, no problem - it was pretty easy. They drive to my house, help me move the old yellow chair and the nasty fridge and bring the new stuff in the house and pretty much just leave. So I've got 2 refrigerators and 2 large chairs sitting in my teeny tiny kitchen/living room. I get everything situated, rearrange the furniture, clean the house, etc. I moved the yellow chair out the back door because it's too big to go through the other doors, and now I have new WT lawn furniture. Yeah.

The boys tell me, "oh, you'll be able to push the old fridge outside - it's on wheels." Not so much. I tried. I hurt myself. At this point, I've been cleaning, furiously, for 3 hours and I want this nasty damn thing out of my house so I can mop and be done and drink some wine. Nope. Not happening. And my back is throbbing at this point.

I walk outside, the neighbors aren't home. Shan's XH down the street sure won't help me. What am I supposed to do?

I go and sulk on the couch because I cannot move a freaking fridge by myself. I have to wait on a man to help me. That pretty much sucks.

So I call F back and ask him to stop by if he comes to town, which he did. Thank goodness. He moved the fridge outside and moved the chair to my garage so I wasn't totally white trash.

Frustrating.

sushi therapy

I was bored yesterday so I decided to go to the grocery store. I got inspired while I was there and decided to get stuff to make sushi, thought it would be therapeutic since I was kind of in the dumps. *Note to self, making sushi is NOT therapeutic - it actual makes you want to pull your hair out everytime the nori splits.

Left to right: tuna, mango, cream cheese, & avocado; spicy crab and green onion. Top to bottom: cucumber and mango, avocado, cream cheese, & pistachio; mango and cream cheese; and spicy crab cups.

It turned out pretty tasty. By the time I was finished I was full because I kept eating my mistakes, so I took it the guys to share with while we watched BB8 and Entourage. They scarfed it down really fast - that's always a compliment!

Other than that it was a pretty boring weekend for me... I tried to go antiquing and thrift shopping but didn't have a lot of luck on Saturday so I headed to the library for the first time in my adult life. It was a bit confusing, I completely forgot about the whole Dewey Decimal system, it took awhile to get reacquainted with that whole thing. I ended up reading a book, watching some of the Planet Earth series, and reading cookbooks on Sunday - it was nice to stay indoors parked on the couch.

Well, I'm off to reorganize my reading list - it was a total clusterf*&k trying to find stuff. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a library system like Netflix?

Oh, goodness! My co-worker just came in here and told me about this - how freaking sad!!!

friday fun #6

This one's from Friday Fiver. I had a hard time finding new ones today... Maybe it's too early.

1. Have you ever gone fishing? Yes, but it's been awhile.

2. Do you have an aquarium? No, but I would like to have one for my office.

3. Do you eat fish? I love to eat fish, except for salmon - it's yucky!

4. Have you ever seen Finding Nemo? Yes, more times than I would like to have.

5. What do you think of Sushi? I heart sushi, I could eat it every single day.

7.19.2007

My hangover cure...

is definitely pot roast. Whenever I'm feeling slightly ill from consuming too many alcoholic beverages I crave pot roast, mashed taters, and lots of brown gravy.

Wonder where I can find some for lunch?

7.17.2007

Hey guys! I am so excited, I’ve been getting blog hits like crazy... It’s fun to watch the counter go! I got my first comment too... Thanks Love & Lipgloss! You made a girl feel special and your blog is super cute! Woohoo!

My honey came home at a decent hour on Friday, that was nice! We went out for drinks with C&B, bar-hopped a little. We couldn’t believe how dead the bars were because of all the festivals going on - there was Rocklahoma, Reggaefest, some Jazz fest, two car shows, and something else keeping everyone busy. If we weren’t so concerned with drinking, maybe we could have been smart and went to one of them. We had some delicious Waffle House at 4 a.m. after some games of foosball and darts at B’s house. Woowee, that stuff hurts the belly in the morning but there is something magical about their coffee, I think it cures all hangovers.

Saturday was Toddles’ brother’s graduation party. I woke up after 3 ½ hours of sleep with some intense itching from last weekend's sunburn and had to go to the store for some anti-itchy meds. It was awful but I finally got some relief and crawled back in bed until we had to be at the party. The party was fun, it was all of his family minus one step-sister and her ridiculous fiancĂ©, no love lost there (him, not her). We got to meet the other sister’s new boyfriend, he seemed nice enough. Everyone swam and ate and we got a big poker game going. Once again, I lost. T took 3rd place, which was nice because he got his buy-in back. His other SIL was hammered duckshit and kept us all in stitches the whole night. She must have drank a gallon of Crown. I bet she felt awful on Sunday morning. We stayed up late again, don’t think we got home until 3 a.m. or so, these long nights really kick my hiney and I feel drained on Mondays but I’m glad my sweetie and I get to spend it time together.

Sunday, Toddles had made plans for us to have lunch with B&C but neither of us were really in the mood to leave the house. We finally agreed to put our happy faces on and meet them at Fox & Hound for a bite. I’m not a huge fan of chain restaurants, but I love their Black Forrest sandwich. It’s a soft pretzel roll sliced in half, with turkey, bacon, swiss, lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard. I think it’s the pretzel and honey mustard that does it for me, so tasty! It gave me an idea to make mini-pretzels for my next ladies’ night, that’s going to be fun. After we ate, B&C talked us into coming over to play their new Wii. That little machine was pretty effin cool! I hadn’t seen one yet, who would’ve have though Nintendo would have come this far in the last 20 years. I still have my original Nintendo and games with the gun! Yes, nostalgic and dorky, all in one. Anyhow, we all took turns playing. That thing will wear you out! It was just as much fun watching as it was playing. B&C let us make our own Mii people and I told them we’ll have to get our own controllers so we can have Wii parties. I think they got it since C is pregnant and will be stuck in the house over the hot summer.

Oh, guess what?!?!?!!?!

It didn’t rain all freakin weekend! Hallelujah! It was hotter than hell but whatever. I’m such a nerd for being excited about the weather, but it’s because of T’s dad - he’s a meteorologist.

S&S went to Rocklahoma over the weekend. They wanted me to come but 80's hair bands just aren’t my cup of tea. I think they had fun. She finally got to meet her myspace boyfriend. Yeah, I know. Weird. I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get some cool concert panties, S is normally good about getting me a pair at every concert he goes to. Oh, and they made a CD, it’s lovely - S&S singing “The Ballad of Jayne” by the LA Guns. I can’t wait to get a copy of that... haha

Well, think that’s about it... Happy Tuesday peeps!

P.S. - Does anyone want to loan me their Sawzall? There are some morons working downstairs and it feels like they are going to cut through the floor any minute now. I want to start making noise back!
: )

friday fun #5

This one comes from: http://www.friday5.org/

Anyway you want it...
  • What’s a gross food you like anyway? Oysters! Those delectable, slimy, tasty little creatures!
  • Who’s an unlikeable person you like anyway? My boss, most of the time.
  • What’s an unpleasant task you enjoy performing anyway? Cleaning the kitchen, it's therapeutic for me.
  • What’s a dumb song you enjoy anyway? Everybody Have Fun Tonight by Wang Chung, it's actually stuck in my head right now.
  • What’s a lousy restaurant you frequent anyway? Hmm... There's a few - Applebee's, Friday's, you know - most of the chains.

mmmm... brownies

Thought I'd share this yummy little recipe I have made twice in the past week. I can't think of which website it came from right now.

Brownies Surprise Cupcakes
-1 box fudge brownies (yes, boxed stuff)
-2 eggs, 1 egg white
-oil and water (amounts on box)
-Snickers, Andes, or your favorite miniature candy bar.
-1 can chocolate frosting, optional

Preheat the oven according to the directions on the box, mine said 350*. Prepare your cupcake pans with liners and set aside. Make the brownie batter according to the box directions. Put a large spoonful of the brownie batter into each spot. Then place a miniature candy in each cupcake and put another spoonful of batter on top to cover the candy. The cupcake liners should be about halfway full. Cook in the oven about 15-20 minutes until a toothpick comes clean when inserted (a little off-center because of the candy). Top with frosting if desired. ENJOY!

I made these for the 4th of July and last night for poker, everyone really liked them. Last night I did half Andes and half Snickers, the girls said the Andes ones tasted like Girl Scout cookies. Score one for Tara!
